The makers of the social robot Milo have teamed up with Losey Brothers EdTech Consultants and Hamilton County ESC to serve the growing number of students with autism

(Cincinnati, OHIO) June 7, 2018 — RoboKind, the creators of robots4autism and Milo, a facially expressive humanoid robot, today announced a new partnership with Losey Brothers EdTech Consultants, who will bring RoboKind solutions and services to schools and districts throughout Ohio and surrounding states, and Hamilton County ESC (Educational Service Center), who will serve as the exclusive service and training provider in Ohio.

The CDC recently announced the number of students identified as on the autism spectrum is dramatically rising, changing their statistic from 1 in 68 to 1 in 58 children being on the spectrum. Working to support this growing number of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), RoboKind has developed Milo, a facially expressive, social robot. Along with the accompanying robots4autism curriculum, Milo helps students on the spectrum learn to self-regulate, to greet people appropriately, and to navigate social interactions.

“The partnership between RoboKind, EdTech Consultants, and Hamilton County ESC is extremely exciting and highlights Ohio as a leader in providing solutions that positively impact the lives of students with autism,” said Dr. Greg Firn, the chief operating officer of RoboKind. “The new statistics from the CDC highlight the need for solutions that help students with autism. It is our mission to offer life-changing solutions to schools and districts to help support their students with ASD, and with the help of these organizations, we will reach even more students in the Midwest region.”

Losey Brothers EdTech Consultants has specialized in supporting schools with educational technology applications for more than 27 years. “We are honored and excited to provide Ohio students with new high-tech educational resources that help level the playing field and encourage success,” said Mark Losey, the president of Losey Brothers EdTech Consultants. “The robots4autism program certainly fits exceedingly well into our goals of engaging students and empowering educators to customize learning.”

“We believe that Milo is a useful tool in bridging the communication gap between students and their learning, revealing a world of endless possibilities for them,” said Teresa Clevidence, the assistive technology consultant and intervention and support supervisor at Hamilton County ESC. “Hamilton County ESC views training facilitators in using Milo with their students as a privilege. We are excited to work with the educators across Ohio as they experience the benefits Milo brings to their students.”
